28 Weeks Pregnant – Third Trimester Update

January 22, 2019

I’m now 28 weeks pregnant, and yes I know – where on earth has the time gone? When I think that Hannah was born at 37 weeks and Audrey at 38.5, I realise that I may not have very long to go with this pregnancy, at all. Nine weeks until full term!

My last update was at 20 weeks (read it here), and as I’m now officially well into the third trimester I thought it was time to do another update.

So what’s changed? Well, this baby moves CONSTANTLY. My obstetrician said this is a good thing, and I must say it is quite reassuring. I’m not sure on size but the baby doesn’t feel too much bigger than Hannah or Audrey were. What is different is that I feel so exhausted, 24/7 – it may be my age (I’m 33), the heat and humidity, or perhaps that I have two kids relying on me as well, but by the end of the day I am done, physically and mentally.

I have started reading regularly again – which I have always loved, but with two kids at home I found I didn’t have the time – now I make time. I’m finding this is making me feel a lot more relaxed at the end of the day and less stressed. I’m planning to do some mini reviews in my stories on Instagram, if you’re interested.

What else have I been up to? Here’s my 28 week update.

How far along?: 28 weeks today.

Maternity clothes: I love my Maive and Bo dresses and my St Frock ‘bump and beyond’ dresses for some colour; my JeansWest Maternity denim shorts and my LEGOE ‘Kiki’ dress, which is super comfy. Other than that I’m mostly wearing regular clothes still, my Little Party Dress Frances dresses are a great comfy back up for days when I want something flowy. I also have a pair of ASOS maternity bike shorts which are ridiculously comfy and I will be wearing a lot I think.

Sleep: I’m sleeping relatively ok at this point, Audrey is still waking some nights and sometimes Hannah wakes as well; other than that I’m ok. I do need to get to bed earlier, 11.30pm bed time is not ideal!

Best moment this week: Not baby related: Getting my new (to me) car; and baby related: my obstetrician appointment where I found out I didn’t have gestational diabetes (yay) and my Vitamin D and iron levels are good.

Food cravings:  Cheesecake (still). I went to the Cheesecake Shop just to buy half a cheesecake last week. Fruit, Thai green curry. (Followed by a Quick-eze…LOL!)

Food aversions: Barbecued steak, bread.

What I miss: Pre-made salads, wine.

What I’m looking forward to: the birth. Winter. (Hah)
