How To Wear a Little Black Dress For Day | What I’m Wearing

March 19, 2016

Swing dresses – I love them. So when I saw this gorgeous swing dress at St Frock, I burst with excitement, as it’s just perfect. The perfect length, swing, and detailing to make it dressy.

I had this dress pegged to wear last Sunday on our anniversary however when we were all sick we cancelled our lunch plans and thus I didn’t get to wear it. It’s been hanging on the door handle of my wardrobe ever since and today I decided to wear it anyway – and dress it down a bit.

This dress is so easy to wear, and very easy to dress up or down. Throw on some simple heels in either black or tan for some interest, some statement earrings and a little jacket or cape and you’re done for a cocktail occasion or dinner. For day time, I’ve made it casual by wearing simple nude sandals which don’t weigh it down (the floaty fabric makes it look light so heavy black sandals would make me look heavy on the bottom) and some shades, with some fine jewellery and a tasseled clutch. If you’ve a favourite little black dress that normally only gets minimal wear, why not try dressing it down for day? If the day was cooler I’d throw on a denim jacket or a khaki bomber jacket for something different.

With sizing, this dress is quite true to size and I’m wearing the 10. I wear a simple bandeau bra underneath which can be folded down to feed when nursing. If you were between sizes and/or quite big in the bust I’d perhaps go up a size. It’s free size around the hips though.
