I think I’ve found a wardrobe unicorn. Let’s talk about the dressy top you pair with a skirt or jeans. So, you’ve found your perfect pair of jeans or skirt. You’re heading out – maybe date night, or a catch up with girl friends, or a birthday party. You want a top that’s a) comfy, b) dressy and c) warm. Even more points if it’s on-trend or at least nodding to a new season trend.
Well, say hello to what I think is my new season wardrobe unicorn: this gorgeous red, floral, ruffle top from NastyGal. Yes, that’s right my friends – you want red? You got it. You want floral? Yep. Ruffles/pleats? YES! This top manages to tick off three major trends in one, yet manages to look somewhat vintage, as well.
(It’s also ticking off the sheer trend but I tend to play down that aspect by tucking it in and wearing nude underwear – or you could always wear a cami (as I am) – although the ruffles tend to cover most of the bust area.)
The top itself is lovely to wear, a floaty chiffon style and semi-cropped but for me it’s perfect for tucking. It would also be amazing worn untucked, too. I’d suggest sticking to your normal size or going up a size if you are in between or are busty.
