An 18-piece Casual Capsule Wardrobe for Mums 

I’ve been asked a few times to do a capsule wardrobe for stay at home mums, after the wonderful feedback from these two wardrobes I did last year for Styling You:

So today I’ve put together what I call my own ‘mum basics’ – the pieces I rely on to get me through every day, as a work from home mum to little ones.

This wardrobe would be a great basic casual wardrobe for just about anyone – kids or not. It’s based on what I LOVE to wear as a mum – which suits our day to day activities – and working from home. It’s made up of my go-to pieces.

Under each item I’ve provided a few alternatives in different price brackets and size ranges too. And of course, this is just an IDEA – a theoretical wardrobe – you don’t need all of these items, and I’m certainly not suggesting that every mum should wear this!

Adapt, adapt, adapt – if you don’t wear jeans for example, swap them out for a skirt or pair of shorts, or a comfy pair of ponte pants. Not into dresses? Swap them out for another top and bottoms. I’ve also included two pairs of slides, which are my favoured go-to shoe in autumn/spring/summer – you may not like these and prefer sandals, slip on loafers or ballet flats.

Of course, everything is affordable and under $100. I have tried to make this more of a transeasonal wardrobe – you may need to add in some more winter woollies, or in summer take out the jeans for shorts.
