As I sit here with the air con pumping and 30+ degrees outside, it’s hard to imagine what being cold feels like. February always arrives with sweating heatwave conditions here in Brissy and it seems we always forget just how unbearable it is. But, here I am about to talk about a few autumn-winter 2018 trends because the fashion cycles and (thankfully) the weather, never stops, so before you know it we’ll be rugged up in our wooly knits and boots once again!
Now is a great time to check out the trends and think about what you’re loving for this season, before the cold hits. Why? The best pieces sell out quickly. As soon as the temperature drops, jeans, jackets and jumpers across the country fly off the (virtual or not) shelves so if you have your eye on something, the sooner you can grab it, the better. I always like to grab a new pair of jeans (if I’m getting a new pair) early in the season so I can still wear it with my spring/summer tops as the weather cools down. Usually by about mid-March I’ve had it with dresses and skirts and shorts and can’t wait to get into my denim jeans!
Today, although it’s still hot outside, I’m wearing a new pair of jeans that I think you’ll love. They make maximum impact for not much effort and hit a number of denim trends at once. I’m wearing them with two other trends that you’ll see everywhere this season. And best of all, this whole outfit is from Chasing Case and all pieces are under $100.
Trend 1
Wide leg/flared/high waisted and cropped jeans
{I’m wearing *Chasing Case distressed cut off jeans AUD$65 size 10 – however a small fit}
Hello hitting three trends at once! These jeans are a higher waist, cropped style with a flared bottom and a slightly wider leg. BUT, they are still super flattering and easy to wear. I’m 158cm and I love where they sit – they’d also work well if you were taller (or shorter!) due to the cropped style. The destroyed look is still going strong and I love the rips on these.
Trend 2
RED.
{I’m wearing *Chasing Case floral red jacket AUD$75 size M}
Red is not going anywhere and along with navy and mustard, is the big colour for winter. Red looks amazing with white and denim, which is what I’ve paired it with today. Throw in some neutral accessories and you’re done. How amazing is the drape on this flowy jacket?! I’d also wear this over a bodycon dress, or even a navy striped tee and high waisted skirt or pants for work. Love.
Trend 3
The white tee.
{I’m wearing *Chasing Case rolled sleeve white tee AUD$29 size S}
Slogan tees have been everywhere of late but there’s one wardrobe basic that is making a comeback. It’s the humble, simple plain tee and if you don’t have a favourite, now is the time to invest. This one is super soft and I find it very flattering.
So there you have it, three easy to wear, easy to achieve autumn-winter 2018 trends. What trends are you looking forward to for autumn-winter this year?
