Before kids, you would never, ever have seen me in anything bodycon. Well, very, very rarely. And then, not since I was about 18, and then only a top, or skinny-leg pants, never a dress.
Oh, so hi guys, today I’m featuring not one, but two figure-hugging little numbers. And why? Because, well, WHY NOT?! Who wrote the rule book on who can wear slim-fitting dresses? If there is one out there, I haven’t read it. Although as a twenty-something I swore there was one out there, and if I wore something tight-fitting I would be laughed at, and ridiculed for my non-model physique.
I’ve come to the realisation that slim-fitting frocks can be quite flattering, comfortable and are easily ‘dressy’. Better still they’re very easy to accessorise. Just add some earrings, heels and a clutch and you’re ready to go. And plus, I like the look. And no, I’m not a model, but I love my body and what it’s help me achieve.
So, here I am. Thirty-two, yes – I’ve had two kids, I’m not an athlete or a size 6, and I’m wearing body con dresses. Hi! And what better occasion to don a figure-hugging number than date night?
These two little frocks are from NastyGal, a store I’ve fairly recently re-discovered for their cute tops, occasion dresses and party outfits. And, it’s all affordable, of course. (PLUS! It’s currently 40% off everything with code GIMME40)
Note on sizing: The two dresses I’m wearing are size 10, however they are a small fit, and I think especially with the mini dress I would have preferred a 12. I am usually an 8-10 and 158cm tall.
