A Winter Wedding Outfit | What I Wore

June 7, 2015

Yesterday my husband and I attended our very good friends wedding here in Brisbane. It was an absolutely gorgeous wedding and when you see two great friends just so happy, it can’t help but to make you smile. Hubby was a groomsman and what an honour to be. I was asked to do a prayer reading in the church ceremony and was absolutely delighted to do so. I looooove weddings, and especially when it is two good friends! Usually I’m all over the outfit and deciding what to wear – this time I had to wear this amazing dress from St Frock – it was comfortable (even with a 16 week baby bump), was flowy and occasion appropriate – I didn’t feel too overdressed or more importantly underdressed. Oh, and it has pockets, and is under $70… #winning!

Dressing for a winter wedding can be a bit tricky – you might want to wear a dress but don’t want to be freezing your socks off once the reception draws to a close. I brought with me a Cape I’ve had for years however had never worn! I bought it from ebay and it was about $50. If you don’t have a dress that has long sleeves and isn’t a dress that would suit a jacket, a Cape is a great idea. I accessorised with some gorgeous The Adorn Collective ‘Tilda’ earrings (which look much more expensive than they are!) and an Olga Berg clutch – I can’t even remember how long I’ve had it for but its a classic glomesh style bag.

After the church ceremony, the bride and groom had organised a boat to transport everyone to the reception – what a lovely idea it was – and perfect for Brisbane of which so many venues are accessible by water. That’s where hubby and I grabbed a quick snap. We probably don’t have too many together these days – one of us is usually child-wrangling! This weekend Hannah stayed over at her grandparents which was only her second night ever away from me. I balled my eyes out, of course. She, however, was absolutely fine and I think she really enjoyed her night. We do need to do this more often, having a bit of mum and dad only time, as much as it kills me to be away from her. I’m such a sook! I hope you’ve had a good long weekend so far.
