Now that the weather is heating up I’m dusting my kaftans off (actually – who am I kidding, I wear them all year round), and hitting the beach. If you’re new to the kaftan, or want to try one, you must know that they’re not just for lazing about the beach or covering up by the pool. The kaftan is actually quite versatile and the right one will take you from lazing about to dressed up in a few minutes flat. The best way to do this is to go for a brightly coloured number, and embellishments like beading or embroidery also help to jazz them up. I wear mine with a slip (if see-through) and some sandals or heels for day or night, over togs at the beach or if the kaftan is more of a tunic style, pair with skinny jeans (try a skinny white jean) for casual evenings. Camilla kaftans are the inspiration, and although I cannot afford hers (not even on sale), there are some great budget options about.
