Frocktober 2014 | A Good Cause To Frock Up

October 1, 2014

Good morning all! It’s the first day of October, which for me means the start of Frocktober 2014. This will be the third year I’ve participated.

Frocktober raises funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation – a cause close to my heart. You see, ovarian cancer currently has no early detection test (unlike say, cervical cancer or breast cancer) and because of this, it is often diagnosed in its late stages. Currently only 20%-30% of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will survive beyond five years, however if found and treated early survival rates increase to 80%-100%.

Ovarian cancer is an insidious disease, often known as a “silent-killer” as symptoms are vague and often strike without warning.

Symptoms can include:

  • Abdominal or pelvic pain.
  • Increased abdominal size or persistent bloating.
  • Needing to urinate often or urgently.
  • Feeling full after eating a small amount.

It’s important to note that most women experiencing these symptoms do not have ovarian cancer, however if symptoms continue seek medical advice. For more informant visit www.ocrf.com.au or www.ovariancancer.net.au

To view my frock each day, follow me on Instagram or Facebook, and if you’d like to sponsor me (with a tax deductible donation) visit https://frocktober.everydayhero.com/au/jasmine

Last year I raised $1120 and the previous year just over $1000. Can I get there again?

Here’s the look for day 1.

Wearing:

Chicabooti dress (on backwards so suitable for breast feeding), two years ago. Similar.

Sportsgirl sandals, similar.

Are you taking part in Frocktober? Are you a dress lover or a separates person?
