A New Style Challenge | Thrifty Style

August 15, 2014

With the end of the July Style Dare, I embarked on a new style challenge. This time, however, I must admit I'm more of an admirer and a casual/sometimes participator. It's the Perth Fashion Festival's Restyle challenge – a style challenge celebrating op shop finds. I hesitated to join the challenge as its close resemblance to one of my favourite bloggers' style challenges was a bit off putting, however the celebration of thriftiness was right up my alley. Not to mention the boost in support of op shops and their respective charities, which is ALWAYS good! The challenge enlists a number of bloggers who must style a thrifted find each day with inspiration from the daily prompt. If you're interested in playing along, check the hashtag #restyle2014 or view the prompts below:

So far, I haven't managed to follow all of the prompts, as I'm trying to just use the op shop finds I already have. I did manage to get to my fave Salvos a week ago and found three things for only $7. I love op shops! Here's what I wore for the first fortnight:

Day 1: glitter

Thrifted glitter top from 'Millers', Lucy in the Sky Jeans, Rubi sandals.

Day 2 & 3: less than $10 and collar (combined)

Thrifted button up khaki shirt, Target jeans, ASOS ballet slippers, leopard scarf a gift from a friend.

Day 4: button down

Thrifted nautical motif shirt. (Coffee, $4.90, necessary!)

Day 6: outerwear

My bargain vintage Burberry trench coat $40 from the local Salvos, Lucy in the sky jeans, Sportsgirl shirt, Famous Footwear shoes.

Day 10: spots and dots

Cami $1 from Salvos, Target jeans, Rubi boots.

Day 13: floral

$4 floral dress – I think it's handmade – from Salvos, Kmart boots and Dotti belt.

    What a brilliant idea, Jaz!

I love how you’ve styled your thrifted pieces, and of course… Campos coffee = love.
