Frocking up…for a good cause!

October 10, 2012

Hi ladies, heard of Frocktober? Well I’m currently 10 days into this challenge, to which I have decided to wear a different dress every day for a month. Yes you heard correctly – no shorts, no jeans, no cute cropped pants…sigh! And, it’s not just wearing dresses for a month, it’s not BUYING ANY NEW ONES for a month too!! I know right!

So, why am I putting myself through this tortuous pain of no new things for a month? It’s all to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).

Twelve-hundred women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year in Australia, and there is currently no early detection test.

The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) was established in May 2000 and led by eminent gynaecological oncology specialist, Chairman/Co-Founder Associate Professor Thomas Jobling and CEO/Co-Founder Liz Heliotis. It has developed to become one of Australia’s pre-eminent bodies supporting ovarian cancer research programs that occur nationally, and are focused upon the understanding of the causes of ovarian cancer, its early detection and improving patient survival.

I’ve (so far) raised $760 for this cause (and I must say wearing a different dress every day is quite fun!), and I hope to reach my goal of $1000 by the month’s end.
